True. But I think everything's already described in 'Wicked'.

This is what I read on it:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The Watermark is due to be the third novel in Gregory Maguire's Wicked Cycle.

In an interview with the Akron Beacon Journal in October 2006, Maguire said "this book will be about the differing moralities... among soldiers, for one, and diplomats, for another... about decisions to wage war" and "One of the main characters is the Cowardly Lion". The book was originally titled "A Cowardly War" but was eventually changed to "The Watermark".[1]

Although, in an e-mail dated April, 2007, to a fan, Gregory Maguire made this statement:

I am also hard at work on a work-in-progress that I consider a kind of slim intermezzo between the bigger novels WICKED and SON OF A WITCH and the fourth and final book in the WICKED cycle, tentatively called THE WATERMARK. The work in progress was once called A COWARDLY WAR but the working title has reverted to the one I began with, DEPOSITION OF AN ORACLE. It involves (for those who care) the grilling of the weird character Yackle by the Cowardly Lion, and vice versa, in a time of war, and it will provide answers to some of the mysteries left unresolved in WICKED."

Thus, it is possible that a third, slimmer book in the Wicked cycle will be titled "Deposition of an Oracle," and the fourth and final book will be "The Watermark," possibly referencing a mark on her person that Elphaba (the witch) referenced in the first book.

I loved this book so much!
I thought it was much better than the Wicked Novel - I was so addicted to it! It was so amazing!
I loved the way that he went back in Liir's mind to Elphaba but he didn't say "Elphaba did this" he said "Green skin" at the end of those bits which was really cool. I had a feeling that the baby would come out the way she does but then that went away and then I finished reading and it was right! Really interesting and amazing.
Yeah shame he's not making a sequel but I think "The Watermark" sounds interesting, if it is the reference from the first book I think that'll be good to find out!

I just got Son of a Witch for Christmas and had it read within a couple days. I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked Wicked, but the ending did take me by surprise. If it wasn't for that ending I'm not sure if I'd end up reading his next Wicked-related book, but as soon as I read that last line I knew I'd have to read whatever comes next, just to see what happens. I'm probably more interested in seeing what happens to the baby than what ends up happening to Liir.

Oh I want to know all of it, but yeah especially the baby! I want to know what he'd call it (probably Elphaba) and stuff..yeah. I spent ages yesterday explaining what happens in Son of a Witch to Danni!
But yeah I loved the book and am probably going to read Wicked again because I was halfway through the second read of it, then started reading Son of a Witch.
Everyone thinks I'm obsessed with Witches at school because I'm always reading something Witchy :P
